Airports
Switzerland’s international airports are at a distance of approx.
60 km (Geneva), 200 km (Basle) and 230 km (Zurich) and can easily be reached
by train.
Banks
Generally, weekday opening hours are 9.00 to 12.00 a.m. and 2.00 to 5.00
p.m. In the city centre, most banks are also open during lunch time.
Car parking
The Beaulieu congress centre parking in Lausanne is open 24 hours a day
and has a capacity of approximately 600 covered parking spaces. Certificate
of attendance
Certificates of attendance will be provided at the registration desk to all
registered delegates.
Climate
The average temperature in June is approximately 20 degrees Celsius during
the day.
Commercial exhibition
The commercial exhibition will be open from June 19th
to June 21st, 2008.
Congress badge
Entrance to the congress venue will not be permitted without a congress
badge.

Credit cards and currency exchange
Most major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, AmEx, Diners Club) are accepted
at hotels, department stores and the majority of restaurants. The Swiss currency
is Swiss francs (CHF), however, Euros are accepted at most hotels. Please
note that identification (passport) is requested when exchanging money. All
banks in Switzerland are authorised to convert foreign currency to Swiss francs.

Electricity
The voltage in Switzerland is 220 V. Appliances from North America and
Great Britain require an adaptor and/or transformer.

The official language of the congress is English. Liability
and insurance
The organising committee accepts no liability for personal injuries or for
loss /damage of property belonging to congress participants, either during
or as a result of the congress or during any of the excursion tours. It is
recommended that participants arrange for their own personal health, accident
and travel insurance.
Local transportation
Buses
Bus no. 3 takes you directly from Lausanne Central Railway Station to the
Beaulieu. You may also go on the bus no. 2 (Bellerive – Ouchy –
Saint-François – Beaulieu). Please refer to online information
at www.t-l.ch or contact the
Lausanne urban transport organisation at +41 21 621 01 11 for any further
requests.
Taxi
There are taxi stands in the street, or you can call a taxi, paying a surcharge
for this service.
National transportation
Switzerland has a very well developed public transportation system
(train, bus, tram). For further information on train connections, please
visit http://www.sbb.ch or simply create your own time table.
Timetable
Passport and visas
EU citizens are free to travel with any form of ID. For visitors from
all other countries, it is recommended to check document requirements with
the Swiss embassy or consulate in their country of residence. Delegates requiring
a letter of invitation for visa purposes are kindly requested to write to
the congress organisers.

Public
telephones
So called «taxcards» for public telephones (for CHF 5, 10,
20, 50 and 100 respectively) are sold at post offices, train stations
or at any newsstand. Operating instructions are displayed in the telephone
booths, which can be found at post offices and in various other locations.
Mobile telephones
Contact your provider for any additional information on the operation of
your mobile telephone abroad. Please note that you might need an adapter
for recharging in Switzerland and that mobile telephones must be switched
off during congress sessions.
